Cava Week, Sant Sadurní d’Anoia

Cava Week is a celebration of Catalonia‘s most famous wine takes place from the 10th of October with the main event on the 12th of October when a train from Barcelona arrives in Sant SadurnĂ­ d’Anoia and is met with a mini-carnival including the traditional Cabezudos (people wearing oversized papier-mâchĂ© heads).  This is followed by a tour of the cellars and further celebrations and events.

Misericòrdia Festival, Reus

The Festes de Misericòrdia is the second biggest fiesta of the year for the City of Reus and there are events for the week leading up to the main day on 25 September.  Reus is probably best known for its airport serving the Costa Dorada but is well worth a trip in its own right and can easily be combined with Tarragona, Salou or other destinations on the Costa Dorada.  If you’re looking for a place to stay check out our Costa Dorada Hotels.

Red Bull Air Race, Barcelona

Catalan Cava & Wine Show, Barcelona

The Catalan Cava & Wine Show takes place during La Mercè down at the old port area in Barcelona.  Catalonia is home to Cava and this show is where producers across the region come to promote their wines from 24-27 September. Visit CataVino for more.

BAM Music Festival, Barcelona

The BAM Music Festival (Barcelona Acciò Musical) runs from the 23-26 September during Barcelona’s  La Mercè (Virgin of Mercy) Fiesta.  There’s music venues all over the city (mostly open-air) with over 30 bands playing.  For other music dates in Barcelona check Barcelona Concerts and Gigs

La Mercè, Barcelona 23-27 Sep

La Mercè (Virgin of Mercy) is Barcelona’a fiesta to mark the end of summer and takes place from the 23-27 September and  includes the usual Catalan celebrations such as the Correfoc, Castellers, Sardana dancing & fireworks. Check accommodation availability at Hotels in Barcelona.

Calella Festa Major, 19-23 September

The coastal town of Calella (about 60km north  Barcelona)  is reputed to be one of the birthplaces of the Catalan dance the Sardana and the town’s Festa Major combines music, food and fireworks with lots of dancing.  For Hotels in Calella go to Hotels in Spain and search for Calella.

Leonard Cohen in Barcelona
